Frisco Incident Exposes America’s War On Black Youth Who Dare To Defend Themselves

Frisco, TX — April 2, 2025

A Disturbing And Revealing Incident Took Place At Kuykendall Stadium In Frisco, Texas, Where 17-Year-Old Karmelo Anthony Now Finds Himself Fighting For His Freedom After Defending Himself Against Two Aggressive Peers. The Confrontation Ended With The Death Of 17-Year-Old Austin Metcalf — But The True Injustice Lies In How Quickly The System Moved To Vilify Karmelo, A Young Black Teenager Who Chose Self-Preservation Over Submission.

The Altercation Began During A Rain Delay At A High School Track Meet. Karmelo Was Seated Under A Team Tent When He Was Confronted By Austin Metcalf And His Twin Brother — Both Larger In Size And Acting In Unison To Intimidate. Witnesses Say The Twins Aggressively Told Karmelo To Move, And When He Did Not Comply Quickly Enough, They Escalated The Situation. In The Process, They Broke His Phone — A Blatant Act Of Aggression And Disrespect.

Several Eyewitnesses Confirm That Karmelo Remained Calm, Repeatedly Telling The Metcalf Brothers Not To Touch Him. He Issued Verbal Warnings, Asking Them To Back Off. But His Pleas Were Ignored. Surrounded And Physically Threatened By Two Larger Individuals, Karmelo Was Left With No Choice But To Defend Himself. And Yet, Instead Of Being Protected By The System, He Was Handcuffed And Charged With First-Degree Murder.

Now, Karmelo Sits Behind Bars, His Bond Set At An Outrageous $1 Million — All For Surviving A Situation That Many Young Black Men Do Not Walk Away From.

What’s Clear Is That The Moment Karmelo Chose To Stand Up For Himself, The Narrative Was Flipped. The Aggressors Became The “Victims,” And The Young Black Teen Who Warned, Pleaded, And Defended Himself Was Painted As The Villain. This Is Not Justice — It’s A Continuation Of America’s Long-Standing Pattern Of Criminalizing Black Resistance, Especially When It Comes From The Youth.

Let’s Be Clear: Karmelo Anthony Is Not A Threat. He Is Not A Thug. He Is A Young Black Man Who Was Cornered, Harassed, And Physically Threatened — And Made A Decision To Protect His Life. The Real Threat Here Is A Society That Demands Black Youth Remain Passive In The Face Of Violence, And Punishes Them When They Dare To Say, “Not Today.”

Karmelo Should Not Be Behind Bars. He Should Be Free, Supported, And Protected. Because If A Black Teenager Can’t Defend Himself Without Being Charged Like A Criminal, Then What Hope Is There For Justice At All?

Justice For Karmelo Anthony.

All Power To The Youth Who Choose To Survive.
